Clinic For Plastic Surgery
Houston, Texas | November 28, 2022
Introduction
With Americans spending more than $17 billion annually on cosmetic and plastic surgery, the industry continues to grow at a rapid pace. From facelifts to breast augmentations and botox to skin microneedling, cosmetic health practices and centers deliver high-quality clinical care in both fee-for-service and value-based care.
The Story
Recognizing that facility aesthetics and functionality impact a patient’s choice of a cosmetic and plastic surgery center, the Clinic for Plastic Surgery in Houston, Texas, opted to build a new center with the goal of transforming patient care areas by incorporating design trends from the hospitality market. With Browne McGregor Architects leading the design service, the new 19,000-square-foot freestanding plastic surgery and aesthetic center would include a two-story building on a 3.5-acre site adjacent to Sylvan Rodriguez Park. The building is flanked by separate parking lots for the clinic and spa clients and the surgical patients.
As guests enter the facility from the two parking areas, they pass by a “secret” wellness garden on their way to the grand lobby that boasts wonderful daylighting, a two-story drip fountain, and a monumental staircase. The state-of-the facility provides a peaceful, luxurious setting for the ambulatory surgery and aesthetic medicine center on the ground floor and the med spa above.
With a sleek modern style, the design team chose Crossville Porcelain Tile Panels by Laminam in the Filo colorway as wall accents in the lobbies. An elegant porcelain with an edgy, chain-mail texture and superior technical characteristics, Filo is a spot-on choice for the design-forward facility. To clad the busy elevator bank and reception areas, the designers needed a durable wall covering that would not be too heavy or thick to minimize weight for installation. The porcelain tile panels proved to be the ideal selection for these high traffic areas. Not only do the porcelain tile panels provide the right look and feel, but they will perform beautifully in the long term. The expansive surface is high performance and simple to clean and maintain with minimal grout joints. These characteristics make the Crossville tile panels an excellent choice, as cleanliness, ease of maintenance, and aesthetic appeal are top priorities in a healthcare setting.
For the floor and walls in the public and private restrooms, the team chose Crossville’s Nest Collection. Nest offers a clean, sophisticated wood look in a porcelain tile. The product specifiers turned to this line for its beautiful appearance that replicates the style of wood flooring in texture and color but is crafted in a durable tile body that meets all the performance requirements of the healthcare industry. In the beautiful Olive hue on the floors and Oak hue on the walls, the tile surfacing contributes to a calming, relaxing atmosphere for patients and employees.
Conclusion
Embracing the ongoing trend in healthcare design to incorporate a more welcoming, hospitable style, the Clinic for Plastic Surgery beautifully represents a modern and functional healthcare facility.
