Introduction

Bringing together some of Fort Worth’s finest builders, architects, interior designers, and contractors, the Fort Worth Magazine Dream Street Project created three luxury homes outfitted with the latest technology and finest finishes in the beautiful Montrachet development. Not just a premier neighborhood, Montrachet features a secure community with over 50 acres of green space and miles of hiking and biking trails, a beautiful box canyon, and thoughtful amenities.

The  Story

Cape Dutch is one of the three Dream Home projects, and it is a modern take on the Cape Dutch architectural style, which was popularized in South Africa. Designed with entertainment in mind, the house features plenty of outdoor living space and views of the backyard from every room in the house.

Windmiller Custom Homes, Amira Windmiller Interior Design, and Montebello Architecture and Design were chosen for the $4.1 million home that features four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a three-car garage and expansive outdoor living spaces totaling 8,248 square feet.

“Going into this project I really wanted as much of the tile as possible to be natural, and even look homemade. The goal was to create a timeless and organic feel, which in turn will age better as time goes on. Brass was the main accent used in most areas, especially in conjunction with the tile, but it is a cohesive detail found around most of the house. Honestly, I’m not even sure I have a favorite because I feel as though I gave each individual space the unique attention it deserved,” explained Windmiller.

For the dramatic fireplace in the family room, the team chose Crossville Porcelain Tile Panels by Laminam in the stunning Statuario Venato Bookmatch. The marble look of the I Naturali collection allowed the design team to install a classic style with all the performance benefits of porcelain. The lean profile and generous outer dimensions of the porcelain tile panels create a look of nearly uninterrupted tile that required minimal grout lines for a sleek installation. With a two-story fireplace, the porcelain tile panels extend the space vertically providing a stunning backdrop for the three large hanging geometric light fixtures.

Conclusion

Windmiller ensured every space was detailed for modern living, and the new owners will enjoy their Cape Dutch home for many years to come with the fine details through each room.
