Introduction
Staying on top in the ultra-competitive hospitality industry is an ever-evolving task. With guests expecting not only top-notch service but also modern and updated amenities, hotel designers are challenged to specify products that withstand high traffic and are easy to maintain yet also exude style and fashion.
The Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld is excellent example of just how nimble hoteliers must be to stay at the top of their games and first on travelers’ preferred accommodations lists. Although the hotel completed a $35+ million renovation in 2011, the facility’s 10-story atrium lobby floor was in need of a refresh in less than a decade after the previous remodel.
The Story
The replacing of lobby flooring in any open and operating hotel is no small feat. The process can be disruptive and off-putting for staff and guests alike. The challenges are compounded for a hotel the size and scope of Renaissance Orlando, as its atrium lobby encompasses a vast amount of surface area and serves as a major focal point for the entire facility. The team behind this project thoughtfully planned and considered all aspects of specification and installation to ensure as smooth a process as possible with exceptional results in terms of the chosen flooring’s style and performance.
To successfully answer all of these demanding factors, the team chose Crossville’s Moonstruck porcelain tile collection in the 18” x 36” plank size. The Crossville product hit all the right marks. In addition to the tile’s great look, exceptional durability, and long-term ease of maintenance, the product is manufactured in America and was readily available on schedule to keep the installation moving quickly and smoothly.
With its sandstone-textured and striation-rich design, Moonstruck’s flowing, directional veining offered the subtle movement the team needed to help balance the large expansive lobby space. The design team opted for the Juno hue, a bright white color with hints of warm gray that create a fresh, clean, modern look. Moonstruck’s coloration allowed the designers to easily capture the updated aesthetic.
“We needed a high performing, quality product that would stand the test of time and for these reasons thought of Crossville,” explained Gina Tomczak of Looney & Associates.
“Our Crossville experience was excellent! Our representative was very responsive, sent samples to us and our client quickly, and provided us detailed information about availability. This was weeks into the pandemic when there was a lot of uncertainty, but I felt confident in what Crossville was telling us. Relationships with competent representatives from companies that stand behind their products and are locally made are so important in times like these.” Said Tomczak.
Conclusion
With speed of availability and installation combined with lasting style and performance, Crossville’s creative solutions made a splash for the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld. Crossville’s flooring throughout the lobby is beautiful, durable, and ready to welcome countless guests who expect the only the best. Long term, Crossville products are the easy choice for hard surface solutions for hospitality design.
