Sarasota Memorial Hospital recently opened its new full-service, acute care hospital in Venice, Florida, serving the growing population in south Sarasota County. Enhancing healthcare across the region, the $437 million facility offers a full slate of medical and surgical care, including cardiology, orthopedics, intensive care, surgery and comprehensive labor and delivery care. Situated on a 65-acre campus, the five-story, 452,000-square-foot facility connects to a two-story medical office building providing direct access to complementary, outpatient services in a one-visit care setting.
Flad Architects was tasked to create a welcoming and comfortable experience for patients, visitors, and staff. The team carefully considered the entirety of the patient experience starting with an extensive site plan. Incorporating the use of high-performance glass on the building’s exterior rated to withstand a category 4 hurricane, the interior spaces are filled with natural light and offer beautiful views to the landscaped campus.
